Job Posting: Supervisor of Officials
Starting Date: July 1, 2026
Job Description – The NEWHA Supervisor of Officials reports directly to the Commissioner of the NEWHA and is responsible for the management, organization, education, and development of the NEWHA officiating staff. The candidate will be the primary contact for the NEWHA officials and the liaison between the NCAA, National Supervisor of Officials, and the NCAA Rules Editor. In addition, the candidate will coordinate and maintain a relationship with the other NCAA Division 1 Women’s League Supervisors of Officials. The candidate must have the ability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
The candidate will assign officials for all exhibition, regular season, and post-season NEWHA games. In addition, the candidate will assign officials to the league members of the NEWHA consortium.
The candidate is responsible for educating the NEWHA officials throughout the year, starting with an annual pre-season meeting which is held in conjunction with the NCAA National Supervisor of Officials and the NCAA Rules Editor. The candidate will include weekly updates to the NEWHA officiating staff.
The candidate is responsible for the development of new NEWHA officials including the assigning of these officials to the NEWHA officiating consortium member leagues. The candidate will assist the Commissioner in the review of supplemental discipline for players, coaches, and official infractions. The candidate will review all incident reports with the Commissioner and advise on the appropriate action to be taken in each incident.
The candidate will establish and maintain a relationship with the NEWHA coaches responding to the NEWHA coaches’ submission of video for review, coaches’ evaluation of officials, and/or concerns regarding officiating and playing rules.
The candidate is required to participate, as needed, in scheduled Zoom calls with coaches, directors, and other constituents.
The candidate will perform other duties assigned by the Commissioner.
Position officially opens as of Monday, March 16, 2026 and will remain open until a candidate is selected. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in officiating in either men or women’s ice hockey at the collegiate level.
