Eugene Binda
Title: Supervisor of Officials

Eugene Binda serves as the Supervisor of Officials for the New England Women's Hockey Alliance.

Binda is responsible for the coordination and development of officials for not only the NEWHA, but also Atlantic Hockey and College Hockey America. His responsibilities include assigning officials, continuing education for league officials, acting as a liaison between coaches, officials, and the league, and serving as a mentor to current and prospective officials.

He has served as a referee for the ECAC at the Division II and Division III levels starting in 1988, and has served as a linesman for Hockey East.

Binda owns and operates Referee's Crease with his son Eugene Jr., which handles assigning and development for officials from the Mite level to Junior A. Binda is the Referee-in-Chief for a number of organizations and uses his reach to identify officials to integrate into the Atlantic Hockey Officiating Development program.

Binda was employed at the Boston Globe for 33 years as a pressmen journeyman, and has since retired. Binda also spends time as an educator for the Graphic Communication International Union, traveling to different sites all over the country. Binda received a bachelor's degree in labor studies from UMass Boston in 1998, and a master's from UMass Amherst in 2002 in the Union Leadership Program.

He and his wife Debby reside in Weymouth, Mass. They have two children, son Eugene Jr., who is a former American Hockey League referee and currently referees in both the NCHC and Atlantic Hockey, and daughter Dorina.
