NEWHA Weekly Release - 02/08/22

Marissa Massaro (Franklin Pierce, F, Gr., Brockton, Mass.)

Scored four goals as Franklin Pierce swept Saint Michael’s in a two-game series last week. Posted her third career hat trick in Friday evening’s 9-3 victory over the Purple Knights and tacked on another goal in Saturday’s 6-0 win. The hat trick for Massaro was her team’s first of the 2021-22 season.

Korneta had a strong all-around week for LIU, who posted a 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart before playing to a 2-2 draw on Saturday. Assisting the lone goal in Friday’s victory, Korneta finished with a team-best five blocked shots on the week and helped the defensive unit limit the Pioneers to under 30 shots in both games.

Holm stopped 49 out of 51 shots to help LIU post a 1-0-1 week against Sacred Heart, maintaining her team’s lead atop the NEWHA standings. On Friday in a narrow 1-0 victory, she stopped all 22 shots on net before halting 27-of-29 in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the Pioneers. Holm ranks second in the NEWHA in both goals-against average (1.78) and save percentage (.940).

Turner helped Saint Anselm to back-to-back victories on the road at Post, scoring two goals in each game and adding two assists in the opening 5-2 victory in Connecticut. Finishing with four goals and two assists against the Eagles, Turner extended her season-long point scoring streak to seven games and has nine markers with six helpers (9-6=15) in that span.
