WINTHROP, Mass. –Saint Anselm senior forward Natalie Tulchinsky and Stonehill sophomore forward Alexis Petford were recognized Tuesday (April 2) as New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) Division I Women's All-Stars.
Tulchinsky claimed NEWHA Player of the Year honors and was a NEWHA First Team selection after leading the alliance in points (42), points per game (1.13), assists (22), points in conference play (35) and assists in conference play (20). The third student-athlete from Clifton Park, N.Y. to be honored with the Player of the Year accolade, Tulchinsky became the first student-athlete in team history with multiple 40-point campaigns to her credit. In 120 games between Boston College and Saint Anselm, she has scored 43 goals with 48 assists for 91 points (43-48=91).
Petford was the lead point-getter for the Skyhawks in the program's infancy. Coming off a season where she was tied for the nation's lead in goals, the sophomore forward out of Saskatchewan, led the Skyhawks again with 35 points off 20 goals and 15 assists. Throughout the 2023-24 campaign, Petford posted record-breaking streaks on multiple occasions, including a nine-game point streak spanning from Oct. 7 to Nov. 4 and a six-game goal-scoring streak from Jan. 19 to Feb. 3. After the month-long break in December, Petford caught fire, leading her team with 19 points throughout the second half of the season and earned herself NEWHA January Player of the Month distinctions.
The pair will be honored at the NEHWA's annual awards reception on Tuesday, April 23 at Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass.
