PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Alexis Petford (Stonehill, F, Fr., Balgonie, Saskatchewan)
Petford tallied six goals and two assists in January to end the month with eight points and a plus-three on-ice rating. The sophomore forward has been peppering opposing goaltenders of late, recording 56 shots through eight games in January, good for an average of seven shots on goal per game. During the Skyhawks most recent series against Sacred Heart, Petford fueled back-to-back late-game comeback efforts with lamplighters to force overtime against the Pioneers. On the season, Petford ranks in the top five in the NEWHA in goals (12), assists (12), and points (24) while leading the league with total shots (135) and game-tying goals (2).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Jenna Ruiz (Franklin Pierce, F, Sr., Webster, Wis.)
Ruiz had two game-winning goals and five assists for seven points in January. The senior was plus-four and did not commit a penalty. Ruiz was also .521 at the face-off dot for the Ravens. In addition to her offensive contributions, Ruiz added 17 blocked shots, 2.13 per game, aiding Franklin Pierce to a non-league game over Dartmouth, and handed league-leading LIU just its second NEWHA loss.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
Jillian Petruno (Sacred Heart, So., G, Wixom, Mich.) 
Petruno backstopped the Pioneers in all eight contests played in the month, posting a 3-3-2 record while earning a .961 save percentage and 1.34 goals-against-average through the month. Petruno recorded her fourth shutout of the season in SHU's 1-0 win over Franklin Pierce on Jan. 18 and had three 40-plus save performances during January. She currently leads the NEWHA in goals-against-average (1.99) and save percentage (.942) while ranking 19th in the country in GAA and ninth in the nation in save percentage. Petruno also served as an effective penalty killer, helping SHU go 20-for-24 on the penalty kill during the month.

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Courtney Stagman (Saint Anselm, G, Fr., Andover, Minn.)
Stagman posted a 3-3 record in January with 155 saves in six starts. Posting a 2.07 goals-against average on the month, the first year from Andover, Minn. recorded a shutout with 21 saves in an overtime win over Sacred Heart on Jan. 13. She also held league-leading LIU to just two goals in each of the games to close out the month as Saint Anselm and LIU battled for first place in the league standings.
