TSR NEWHA Athletes of the Month - Sept./Oct.

 

Turner led the NEWHA in September and October, registering seven points over nine games. Her five goals (0.56/g) also leads the NEWHA. Turner has been a consistent point scorer, registering points in all but three of the team's nine games with one multi-point game (two goals in a 4-3 win over Saint Michael's, the second of which was the game-winner in overtime). Turner is plus-four over the first nine games of the season and has Saint Anselm near the top of the league standings with eight points (3-1-0 in NEWHA).

Popick has been a staple defender for the Pioneers to start the season, registering the game-winning goal in overtime in SHU's season opener against RPI. The graduate student defender currently has two points and leads the Pioneers with 16 blocks, grabbing a season-high six blocks in SHU's lone conference loss this season. Popick and the Pioneers sit tied atop the league standings, boasting a 3-1-0 record against the league.

Greene, who got her first action of the season in SHU's conference opener against Saint Anselm, has been perfect in between the pipes for the Pioneers, registering three consecutive wins as SHU claimed a 4-2-0 overall record. Greene grabbed a season-high 45 saves in the 4-0 shutout win over Saint Anselm before earning a series sweep over Stonehill Oct. 18-19, stopping a combined 64 shots while registering her second shutout in a three-game stretch. She currently leads the NEWHA in goals-against average (0.95) and save percentage (.975) in her four appearances in net.

Ella Holm has been a stand-out forward for the Pioneers to begin the season. Holm earned her first collegiate point in the 4-3 loss against Saint Anselm and then registered a goal in a 4-0 blanking of the Hawks, the first collegiate goal. She followed that with a two-point outing against Stonehill, grabbing the game-winning goal in the series finale. Holm currently sits second on the team in points and is on a career-long, four-game point streak heading into November with the first-place Pioneers.
