Three honored on CSC Academic All-District teams
WINTHROP, Mass. – Three student-athletes across the six New England Women’s Hockey Alliance institutions were honored this past week on 2023 Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
WINTHROP, Mass. – Three student-athletes across the six New England Women’s Hockey Alliance institutions were honored this past week on 2023 Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Tindra Holm (Long Island), Maeghan Kennard (Saint Michael’s) and Kelly Solak (Sacred Heart) were named to the exclusive list. The trio of NEWHA selections will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Thursday, June 22.
Holm, a Sport Management major from LIU, collected numerous accolades for the league-champion Sharks. Named the Most Valuable Player of the NEWHA championship game, she also captured the league’s Goaltender of the Year honor and was a National Women’s Goalie of the Year semifinalist after posting a 2.03 goals-against average, a .932 save percentage and a league-best seven shutouts.
A Chemistry major, Kennard produced three goals and six assists (3-6=9) across 32 games for the Purple Knights. Named one of 19 Student-Athletes of the Year by the NEWHA in 2022, Kennard is a three-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-America Scholar and is a two-time recipient of the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award.
Solak, a four-time All-NEWHA pick, is a Public Health major who posted six goals and 12 assists for 18 points (6-12=18). Ranking second on the team in assists, third in points and fifth in goals as a defender, Solak was a team captain who blocked 48 shots on the season to rank second on the Pioneers.
